Wanted! Student Field Reporters
EcoTeach has partnered with Amazon Rainforest Workshops to launch the first EcoTeach Student Field Reporter Essay Contest. We’re looking for EIGHT students interested in becoming the “Field Reporter” for their 2015 Costa Rica or Peru travel group. We’ll award each selected Student Field Reporter a $300 travel credit or just hand over the cash. Students must be registered for a 2015 EcoTeach trip to Costa Rica or Peru to participate. Essays must be submitted by January 9, 2015!
Students will compete for a spot as their group’s Field Reporter by participating in an essay contest. Essays must be submitted in the form of a blog post and describe a place recently visited. Essay contest details can be found on the EcoTeach Student Field Reporter Essay Contest page.
Selected Field Reporters will be the voice of their travel group and will report on activities leading up to, during and after the trip.
- Pre-Departure: File at least 1 report sharing your group’s pre-departure activities. This may include pre-departure meetings, field trips, fundraising efforts, etc.
- In the Field: File at least 2 reports sharing a “day in the field” detailing your group’s activities. Due to limited internet in most of our field locations, the “day in the field” reports may be submitted upon return.
- Post-Trip reflections: File at least 1 report reflecting on the impact of the travel experience from a personal perspective.
After Field Reporters have submitted their final posts, we will select the top Field Reporter for 2015. This student will be awarded an additional scholarship to participate in the Youth Travel Blogging Mentorship Program sponsored by Wandering Educators.
