EcoTeach and Laurel True team up on a mosaic making trip to Costa Rica!
EcoTeach expeditions to Costa Rica are known for hands-on conservation work, authentic cultural exchange and real-world educational experiences in Costa Rica. Now, we’re proud to add neighborhood beautification to our list of hands-on activities. Mosaic artist, Laurel True, will lead a group of EcoTeach participants in a Community Mosaic Mural Making Trip in Costa Rica from January 10-19, 2013.
Laurel True, founder of True Mosaics Studio and the Global Mosaic Project, will facilitate mosaic workshops where participants will learn mosaic setting techniques, how to pass those techniques on to others, design development and approaches to project coordination. Then, participants will work with local community members of all ages to create a mural at a small, medical clinic in the town of Fortuna. Artists and non-artists alike are welcome to participate.
Participants will stay on Don Juan’s organic farm and learn about sustainability as they enjoy meals prepared on the farm. They will also visit a wild animal rescue center, explore the town of Fortuna and zip line through the forest canopy!
